Busy times ahead for Backpacker's Get Out More Tour

May 17, 2012

It’s May and that means the Get Out More Tour is well underway. There are exciting things in store for those planning to catch Sheri and Randy Propster as they travel from town to town stopping to impart trail wisdom and give away sweet gear and other prizes. With this year’s presentation focusing on lightweight backpacking and hiking, it’s more than fitting that the Propsters are destined for the Appalachian Trail Days event, May 18-19. The town of Damascus, VA hosts the popular Appalachian Trail-centric festival each year. Thru hikers and AT enthusiasts converge by the thousands for a full on street festival experience with vendors offering food, gear repair, & opportunities for medical attention and first aid. To celebrate 75 years of the Appalachian Trail there will be live music, a talent show for thru-hikers, and even a contra dance. As they do every year, the Propsters will conduct a gear giveaway on Saturday evening which always brings on a crowd.

After leaving VA the Propsters are looking forward to heading north and exploring another section of the Great Eastern Trail as they make their way to a National Trails Day event in Woolrich, VA. The 20th anniversary of National Trails Day is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the trails that give so much to outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. To find a National Trails Day event near you visit The American Hiking Society at: http://www.americanhiking.org/national-trails-day/.

The Propsters will be spending the first half of the summer exploring the Northeast and visiting specialty retailers to spread the Get Out More message. Stops along the tour for this month include Outdoor Trails in Lynchburg, VA (May 22), The Sole Source in Harrisonburg, VA (May 23), REI in Pittsburgh, PA (May 24) and Appalachian Outdoors in State College, PA (May 26). At each stop they will be giving away one pair of Vasque shoes amongst other sponsors prizes. We hope that you will join the Propsters at a Get Out More Event near you this summer.
